Play Based Learning: is a term used in education to describe how a child can learn about the amazing world God created. Through play children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments.
Ways young children learn include playing, being with others, being active, exploring and new experiences, talking to themselves, communication with others, meeting physical and mental challenges, taking risks, being shown how to do new things, practicing and repeating these skills and having fun.
Guiding Star Preschool and School Age Care
An Outreach Ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Guiding Star will provide:
A Christian atmosphere where children can find love and understanding. A place where they can gain knowledge, make friends, express creativity, and develop self-esteem through their success.
Activities that encourage development and growth in language, reading, math, science, creativity, gross and fine motor skills.
An environment that will help to prepare children for success in group experiences including Kindergarten and future school settings.
An opportunity for creative individualism and expression through music, movement, and play.
Guiding Star’s role:
Spiritually as a Christian Preschool and School Age Center is to assist parents in the teaching of their children about the love, grace, and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Academically as a Christian Preschool and School Age Center is to provide a resource and environment for children to develop Kindergarten readiness skills. This is not a program of strict academics. We focus on developing the whole child as he or she has the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally, physically as well as intellectually through a curriculum of planned age appropriate hands-on activities that also encourage self-discovery.
